Beagle 0.2.16 Packages for Ubuntu Edgy
Posted on February 7th, 2007 6 commentsOk, Ubuntu Edgy ships Beagle 0.2.9, that sucks.
Beagle 0.2.16 is way better, so here are packages, add them, they are better.
deb http://beagle-project.org/files/ubuntu/edgy/ ./
or
deb http://kubasik.net/ubuntu/edgy ./Ok, in all seriousness, I gave these a quick test on a virtual machine, but make no promises, so please try them out, as they should make your Ubuntu and Beagle experiences significantly better!

works. but I seariously miss the thunderbird backend! I installed your deb because I hoped that the thunderbird-backend would work, as it does not in the default edgy package… ;( could you add it?

Should beagled in this version list Thunderbird as a backend when executing beagled –list-backends?
The output I get from this is as follows (notice no Thunderbird):
Current available backends:
User:
– EvolutionMail
– EvolutionDataServer
– KMail
– Files
– GaimLog
– IndexingService
– Tomboy
– Labyrinth
– Blam
– Liferea
– Akregator
– KonquerorHistory
– KonqBookmark
– KNotes
– KOrganizer
– KAddressBook
– Kopete
– Konversation
System:
– applications

So I installed the new beagle and my laptop has been working like a dog for several days building the index. I hear the thing fire up every few seconds. I have it set to stop doing this now when on battery power so as not to suck my battery dry. I’m just wondering — how normal is this? How many days/hours should I expect this to go on for? (Note that it’s not really days of work since it’s a laptop and it sleeps when I’m not working — it’s probably been on ~8-10 hours since I got the new beagle packages.

I would like it very much when thunderbird backend would be enabled by default. I don’t know how to do it now

It’s very comfortable to install beagle via your package repository but I’m missing very much the thunderbird backend.
The advantage of the sucking ubuntu package is, that the thunderbird backend was enabled by default.
I don’t know how to enable it here.
